Anyone trying to lose weight has an extra tough time during the holiday season. There are all kinds of excuses to forget all about your diet! As the temperatures drop outside, many people take to baking, and the closer to the holidays it gets, the more cookies and other treats appear all over. The meals get bigger and richer, calories are everywhere! This doesn't mean, however, that you should just give up on your weight loss goals for the whole holiday season.
It's definitely possible to get through the holidays without carrying any additional pounds, as long as you're conscientious and stay alert. So let's find out how this is possible.
One of the most practical things you can do when you know you are about to go to a holiday party with lots of tempting foods is to have a tummy tuck. Something nutritious but low in calories that you eat before the party can make a big difference. You don't want to arrive at the party stuffed, so just make it a light snack. You're only trying to put a lid on your appetite so you don't feel like eating everything in sight at the party. Doing this will allow you to partake of some holiday goodies, but in small and harmless quantities. If you need help, you should be able to find a good counselor to talk to. Emotions become extremely stressed, whenever it becomes time for a holiday. It can be an extra burden for those who are trying to lose weight, even though it is true for the majority of people. Eating more is one of the things caused by stress. Thinking about breaking your diet can give you guilty feelings. You even feel more guilty when you actually do eat something. It's a vicious cycle. Why you want to cheat on your diet, can be dealt with by talking through any emotional issues you have, with a counselor. Anytime of the year it would be a good thing, but at holiday times it would be especially beneficial.
While teaming up with someone who's also trying to lose weight is helpful no matter what season it is, during the holidays it can be even more beneficial. If you consider your circle of acquaintances, it's very likely that at least one of them wants to lose weight and would be open to working with you. It can help to have someone to turn to when you feel overwhelmed by all the ways the holidays encourage you to overindulge. You can commiserate with each other. Most importantly, you can push each other to take positive steps toward leading a healthy lifestyle that will help you both with your weight loss goals - if we are too cheap to get a tummy tuck. There are so many things that you can do to help yourself stay on your diet and keep up your weight loss goals. One point of view is to just eat whatever you want for the holidays and worry about dieting after New Year's -but this puts lots of unnecessary pressure on you next year. If you exercise just a little self control during the holidays, then you can focus on making even more strides next year rather than having to do damage control.
